OSU-Cascade’s New Low-Residency Creative Writing MFA Program

After a long gestation period and guidance from people like the wonderful and wonderfully talented writer Ellie Waterston, OSU-Cascade’s new Low-Residency Creative Writing MFA Program is now a go.  You can find information about the program online at www.osucascades.edu/academics/mfa and about the core faculty in fiction and poetry at http://www.osucascades.edu/academics/mfa/faculty

Applications for the initial residency which starts this November are now being accepted. The deadline is July 29th. Application instructions are available online at www.osucascades.edu/academics/mfa.

OSU-Cascades Low-Residency Creative Writing MFA program is a two-year deal. Throughout the year, students work long-distance with faculty mentors in an individualized course of study. Twice a year, students meet with mentors and fellow students for 10 days of craft workshops, literature lectures, and professional and vocational seminars at OSU’s Cascades campus, located in Bend, Oregon.

Bend, where the Deschutes River meets the Cascade Mountains,  is known for its friendliness and its beauty. But with its annual Nature of Words Literary Festival, ongoing Nature of Words activities, the Deschutes Library’s Author! Author! series and this new MFA program, the town is fast becoming a literary hub.
